As part of Bayer Garden's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint, the garden
care specialists are participating in the United Nations Environment Programme’s
"Plant for the Planet: Billion Tree Campaign". The global campaign is encouraging
individuals, communities, businesses and organizations to enter tree planting pledges
online with the objective of planting at least one billion trees worldwide each
year.
Each pledge can be anything from a single tree to several million trees.
Bayer Garden will be hosting eight tree planting events, which will take place nationwide
throughout the year, linking with various partners to ensure the trees are indigenous
as well as being appropriate to the local environment. Once planted, Bayer Garden
will monitor the growth of the trees over a period of time and report this information
back to UNEP.
Jane Lawler, Head of Marketing at Bayer Garden, said: "I believe we have a corporate
and personal responsibility to look after the environment so I'm delighted to be
taking part in the campaign."
