Potato Blight Alert
If you're eyeing up your spuds with dreams of fresh new potatoes tossed in real
butter or crispy bakers with cheese, think back a bit to the devastating plague
of Potato Blight last year. Not only did the fungus wipe out potato crops but quickly
turned tomato plants brown and nasty too. A little preparation now will see your
crop armed against the pesky fungus and bags of beautiful fresh potatoes will be
just waiting for you to bestow upon them your every culinary desire.
So nip down to your local garden centre and stock up on a preventative blight control,
Bayer Garden Dithane is one of the best. Listen out for blight reports on local
radio in your area or start spraying every 7 - 10 days as soon as warm humid nights
set in - usually from early July.
