SALES PROVE CONSUMERS LOVE SOLUBLE SACHETS
02 July 2010
Data published by GfK comparing the period January to April in 2010 with the same period in 2009 shows that Bayer Garden’s innovative soluble sachets have proved a real winner with consumers.
“Examining the data relating to concentrated weekillers it’s clear our range has significantly outperformed the market,” explained Bayer Garden’s category manager, Ian Overson. “Overall sales of concentrated weedkillers have declined by over 30% during this period while sales of our range have increased by over 22%. Super Strength Glyphosate and Long Lasting Ground Clear are proving the most popular amongst consumers, with Path Weedkiller Concentrate and Tree Stump Killer both selling well.”
Explaining the sales success, Alison Mulvaney, product manager at Bayer Garden, said there are two underlying reasons for our excellent performance this season.
“The withdrawal of sodium chlorate has had an impact, forcing gardeners to look for an alternative. But I believe the real reason people have purchased our products in contrast to the other options on the market is in large part due to the use of our innovative soluble sachets, which we introduced last season.”
The single dose soluble sachets have removed the need for consumers to handle or measure the chemicals. All they have to do is drop them in the watering can and they dissolve in the water in seconds.
Long Lasting Ground Clear provides season long control of difficult weeds such as thistles and nettles on waste ground, around trees and shrubs or on gravel areas. It kills tough weeds and roots and keeps the ground clear for up to four months.
Super Strength Glyphosate is a systemic weedkiller that is ideal for tackling the toughest of deep rooted weeds, including Japanese Knotweed, brambles and Ivy.
Path Weedkiller Concentrate gives long lasting results and is rainfast after only one hour. It is ideal for the season-long control of weeds on gravel paths and drives.
Tree Stump Killer is a tough systemic weedkiller for killing tree stumps, brushwood, brambles and other deep rooted perennials.
