HERB GROWING SEASON NOW UNDERWAY

20 May 2010

Cultivating and harvesting herbs is something novice and experienced gardeners alike can do all year round, but the real season for growth kicks off in March and runs through the summer to early autumn. So now is the ideal moment to begin nurturing and encouraging herbs and Baby Bio Herb Food is the ideal fertilizer.

Alison Mulvaney, product manager at Bayer Garden, explained: “Sitting down to a meal containing your home-grown parsley or basil is wonderfully rewarding so it’s no surprise that herb growing has really taken off. There are three keys to success. The first is to use a soil-based compost and the second is to water in the morning rather than the evening, particularly if the environment is hot. Finally, to make sure the herbs are full of flavour, feed weekly between March and September with a formulation that encourages foliage rather than general growth; Baby Bio Herb Food is the ideal formulation.”

Baby Bio has been Britain’s favourite houseplant food for over 50 years and is still the market leader today. The introduction of Baby Bio Herb Food is the latest extension to the brand and follows the introduction in 2007 of Baby Bio Orchid Food, which tapped into the increasing demand for orchids and in 2008 of Baby Bio Citrus Food. Both Baby Bio Citrus Food and Baby Bio Orchid Food have proved incredibly successful and creating a formulation specific to herbs was a natural extension.
