BAYER GARDEN ANNOUNCES SALES AGENCIES FOR ENGLAND AND WALES
05 February 2010
Garden care company, Bayer Garden, is continuing the implementation of its new sales strategy with the appointment of four sales agencies to cover central, eastern and south east England and Wales.
Bayer Garden is appointing sales agencies as a way to expand and enhance the service it delivers to customers at the same time as deepening its penetration in the peak season. Following these appointments it will have 10 sales representatives serving clients where previously there were only five territory managers and so customers will receive more support and attention.
The Brenda Petts Agency, which is completely new to Bayer Garden and whose appointment will take effect on 1 March 2010, will cover the South East encompassing Kent, South London, Surrey and Sussex. Brenda is being joined in the agency by her husband Derek and combined they have many years experience in the garden and leisure sector.
Currently employed by Bayer Garden, Jim Turner and Cheryl Wilkins are establishing their own sales agencies, with effect from 1 March. Jim’s agency, Jim Turner Agency, will serve customers in East Anglia and parts of Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and North London and, while Cheryl’s, CW Agency, will cover Norfolk, Suffolk, Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Derby.
Fomer Bayer Garden employee Mark Rogers has set up Rogers Agency, which will come into operation on 1 February, to serve Wales and the wider West Midlands, encompassing Warwickshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
Each of these agencies is staffed by individuals with many years experience in the garden care and leisure sectors and already has or will be building up a complete portfolio of complementary products. Retailers, therefore, will have access to experienced individuals able to add real value at each visit.
These appointments follow that of Denholm Agency last autumn to cover Scotland, Northern Ireland and Northern England. This appointment has already proved successful, delivering improvements in customer service and an increase in sales. Bayer Garden is now negotiating the appointment of agencies in the south west of England and expects to announce the completion of the process by the end of June 2010.
Roger Self, head of sales for Bayer Garden, explained: “We are delighted to be announcing these appointments; they are a significant step forward in our strategy of enhacing the service we can provide to retailers by vastly increasing the number of representatives trained in Bayer Garden’s product portfolio. Furthermore, since so many former employees are intrinsic to the appointed agencies we are able to retain their experience and knowledge and customers may continue to work with the people they know.
“We have already had an excellent start to the 2010 trading season with a positive uplift in sales, particularly in the weedkiller category where products such as Long Lasting Ground Clear, which fills the gap left by sodium chlorate, have proved popular. Following the appointment of these sales agencies we are very well placed to build on this beginning.
“Finally, we have created a brand new position within the company, Agency Manager. We are pleased to be adding this strategic role to our team and will be announcing the successful candidate by 1 March 2010. They will go on to manage the agencies and serve key accounts.”
