How do I make good compost?
The best compost is made from a mixture of different types of ingredients. Try to get a balance of 'greens' and 'browns'. 'Greens' tend to be things like grass clippings and vegetable peelings which rot quickly and act as 'activators'. 'Browns' include cardboard, sawdust, woody prunings. Do not include weed "seed", the roots of invasive weeds (bindweed, couch grass, ...) and if you are including branches of a diameter greater than 1 cm, chop or shred them first to speed up their decay. Avoid using meat, dairy or cooked food as these can attract vermin. and use citrus fruit peelings in moderation as these can make your compost acidic.
Tip: to speed up your composting, use Natria Compost Activator.
