Winter moth

Small holes are eaten in newly-emerged spring foliage.  These holes increase in size as the leaves expand.  The pale green caterpillars loosely bind leaves together with silk threads and walk with a looping action.  The caterpillars also eat  fruit blossom and make holes in apple fruitlets.

The flightless female moths emerge from between late autumn and mid-winter.  These moths crawl up the tree trunk and lay eggs in the branches. tree

Product solution:  Sprayday Greenfly Killer or tie Boltac Greasebands to the trunks of fruit trees in October to stop winter moths reaching up into the tree canopy.
