Winter damage

Caused by frost or cold winds. Shows as bleached areas on leaves or dead leaf tips. Lower leaf surfaces become puckered, blistered and cracked. Blossoms may turn brown and drop. Choose varieties carefully. If possible, avoid planting in frost pockets. Protect susceptible plants with straw, fleece, bubble wrap or sacking. Pick oft badly affected leaves. Prune out damaged areas and feed to aid recovery once danger of frost is over.
