This scarlet beetle is easy to recognise, with a red body and black head. It reaches up to 10mm long and feeds on the leaves, flowers and seed pods of lilies and fritillarias from March through to Autumn. Adult and larvae create irregular holes in leaves, stripping plants back to their stems if uncontrolled. In Spring look for clusters of red-brown eggs on the underside of leaves.
