Various species of Sawfly affect particular fruit bushes including gooseberry, apple and plum with some ornamental plants also being affected. Sawfly adults lay eggs either on fruit or leaves. Gooseberry sawfly larvae are virocious leaf feeders feeding from April onwards. Feeding begins in centre of bush, moving outwards, attacking and often defoliating the entire bush. Similar attack on red/white currants.
