Plants flower and set seed, rather than producing edible roots. This is usually caused by changes in day length through seasons and stress such as a cold spell or drought. Avoid planting out in to dry soils, particularly if in a very sunny aspect.
Cultural Methods: Sow bolt-resistant varieties and keep the soil moist. Raise plants in the greenhouse and plant out when the temperatures are warmer, or sow directly under cloches or fleece to provide additional warmth.
